acgcA week from today girls across Iowa will be eligible to begin volleyball practices. Though many, including ACGC players, have been getting a head start by hitting the weight room.

Head coach Trevor Irwin has noticed several of his players improving their strength and conditioning over the offseason. “I know that the girls have been in there a lot. I’ve seen attendance and so far the numbers, they’re going above and beyond of what the scores are (and) what the heights we want them to be at. So everything is kind of gearing up perfectly for us for the Charger season.”

In particular, Irwin notes they are focusing on speed and agility in addition to vertical height. Strength and Conditioning Head Coach Cody Matthewson tells Raccoon Valley Radio they have worked extensively on shoulder exercises as well to help improve their spiking abilities over the offseason. Returning varsity players Savana Fuller and Jorja Hoover have achieved a perfect attendance for the summer program.
