The Stuart City Council met in a special session Monday.
Once again the Council delayed approval on the proposed development agreement with Karl Chevrolet for their expansion project. Economic Development Director Kristen Renslow urged the Council to continue the delay after consultations with the County Assessor, City Administrator Ashraf Ashour, and Karl Chevrolet. Discussion on the agreement will come up once again at next month’s general meeting.
The Council then adopted the 2018 Stuart Housing Revitalization Area and designated the 2018 Stuart Housing Urban Revitalization Area as presented. The Council also approved the sale of a City-owned property at 308 North Main Street and Katie Guisinger as the newest Stuart Police Department Officer. Guisinger is a Stuart resident.
The Council then delayed the adopting of 2018-2019 employee wages once again pending further negotiations on health insurance. They then discussed installing an emergency siren in the Wambold housing additions. Fire Chief Mike Renslow stated the range of $24,000-40,000 would cover a siren of average frequency. No formal action was taken on the discussion.
Other discussion items included an urban renewal request, a scrap pile variance issue, installing lighting at the Pocket Park, and the City’s cleanup days. No formal action was taken on the discussion items. The meeting concluded with a discussion on a vertical siding ordinance. The Council moved to refer the ordinance to the Planning and Zoning Commission.
