With the start of a new school year just a few weeks away, it’s time to start thinking about rounding up supplies. New Opportunities Incorporated is offering an opportunity for those in need to receive those supplies for free.

The organization will be reviewing applications for supplies through their Family Development Center in Guthrie Center. The deadline to apply is Friday, August 3rd, and those who apply must reside in Guthrie County. Parents can only apply for those children who are in their legal custody, and documentation may be requested if needed. Supplies are limited and will be distributed according to income level.

There will also be a school supply drive for those who wish to help contribute to the assortment of supplies. The “Back to School Supply Drive and BBQ” will be on the lawn by Medicap and St. Croix Hospice in Panora from 11:30am-1pm on August 3rd. You can drop off any school supply donations during the event. The items received will be donated to all Guthrie County schools.
