The only eighth grade who saw varsity time on the West Central Valley Wildcats baseball team this summer made the most of his opportunity. Incoming freshman Brice Taylor played in all 27 games for the Wildcats, starting 26 contests at four different positions including first base, second base, pitcher, and right field. Taylor ranked fourth on the team with 19 hits in 70 at-bats. He recorded three doubles, scored 11 runs, and plated 14 more. Taylor also forced 18 walks and struck out 12 times at the plate. He additionally provided quality pitching for the Wildcats, posting a 2-1 record in 21.1 innings. He allowed 16 earned runs, walked 18 batters, struck out 21 hitters, and posted an opponent batting average of .190. The West Central Valley Wildcats ended the 2018 varsity baseball season on July 10 with a 12-15 overall record.
