With a change of head football coaches comes new offensive formations for the Panorama Panthers football team. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network’s initial conversation with Panther new head football coach Michael Kauzlarich came in late March where he was asked the type of offensive sets he likes to run. The former Centerville offensive coordinator wants to run most of his offensive plays out of the pistol set. “We have a lot of formations that we run,” Kauzlarich said, “Last year at Centerville, we ran over 50 formations on a given night. Sounds complicated to the average person but we have a simplified system of making that work for us.”

Now that’s his full attention is on the development of the Panther football program, the Raccoon Valley Radio Network asked Kauzlarich last week how implementing the team’s new offensive schemes was treating his student-athletes. “I think day one the kids were pretty overwhelmed,” Kauzlarich said, “I believe in the whole part, whole teaching (method). From day one, I wanted to give them an idea of what it’s going to be like towards the end of the season and then scale things back, and as we head into camp, we’ll restart at ground zero.”

Kauzlarich takes over for Lyle Alumbaugh, who retired last winter after nearly 25 seasons coaching the Panorama football program. The Panthers look to build on a 3-6 campaign from 2017. The 2018 Panorama High School Football season starts Friday, August 24 on the road against Fort Dodge, St Edmond.
