The City of Dallas Center recently held a special election to determine who will fill a vacant seat on the City Council, and the results are now official.
The Dallas County Board of Supervisors and the Auditor’s Office canvassed the election during a special session Thursday morning. The special election was brought on after a petition was submitted by citizens to protest the vacant Council seat being filled by appointment. However, in the end it was Ryan Coon, the original appointee in March, who came out as the winner of the election by receiving 70% of the votes cast. She defeated challenger Robert Haxton with a margin of 271 votes to 114.
The election was held this past Tuesday, and the results are now official thanks to yesterday’s canvass.
