Guthrie Center High School Tiger alumni from all across the country will converge on Guthrie Center this weekend for the 2018 All-School Reunion. The event, which hasn’t happened in a few years, will feature dozens of activities for alumni and their families.
The weekend begins with registration tonight from 4-7pm at the Guthrie Activity Center. Tonight the musical “Six-on-Six the Musical” also kicks off at 7pm at the Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center High School Auditorium. Tickets for the show are available at the door.
Tomorrow, several community businesses will be hosting open houses to welcome the alumni back to town. Other activities throughout the day include: two golf tournaments at the Guthrie Center Golf Course, a bowling tournament at IncrediBowl, activities at Art on State, and a presentation by University of Iowa Historian Karen Mason on six-on-six girls basketball at the Mary J. Barnett Memorial Library. Friday culminates in a street dance downtown from 6pm-midnight, featuring bands with Guthrie Center ties.
Saturday will kick off with a 5k fun run at the high school track and School Street. Following that will be the parade, starting at 10am. Saturday afternoon’s activities include a petting zoo, car show, and vocal concert. There will be an evening meal at the Guthrie County Fairgrounds and Events Center from 5-7pm with a dance to follow.
All throughout the weekend there will be class displays housed at the Guthrie Activity Center. A schedule of events and miscellaneous details can be found below:
