The 2018 postseason run begins today for multiple Iowa high school softball programs. In Stuart, the West Central Valley softball team opens their playoff run hosting the Clarinda Cardinals in the play-in game of the Class 2A Region 2 bracket.The winner will advance to tomorrow’s quarterfinal round against the No. 7 Treynor Cardinals in Treynor. The Wildcats post a record of 5-22, while the Cardinals are 3-24. The Wildcats closed their West Central Activities Conference season on Saturday, hosting the Earlham Cardinals. The Cardinals shutout the Wildcats in the pair of games, winning 5-0 in game one and 9-0 in game two. Clarinda enters the postseason falling to the Red Oak Tigers, 12-4, Friday in Red Oak. The Class 2A Region 2 play in game between West Central Valley and Clarinda starts with first pitch around 7 p.m. from West Central Valley High School.
West Central Valley Baseball to Resume WCAC Contest vs Earlham
The West Central Valley baseball team will resume West Central Activities Conference action at 10 a.m. this morning as the Wildcats attempt to finish their two-game league series with the Earlham Cardinals. West Central Valley head baseball coach Justin Keck told Raccoon Valley Radio via text message that game two came to a stop in the third inning due to heavy rains. Game one went to West Central Valley by a score of 14-1. Freshman Evan Taylor recorded a three-run home run in the victory.
