6 on 6A week from today the Little Guthrie Theatre in Guthrie Center will open it’s trio of performances with “Six on Six, The Musical.” The shows will be held at the Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center High School auditorium July 5th and 6th at 7pm, and July 8th at 2pm.

Director Kelsey Moran describes the show. “It’s a very funny, witty story about high school girls basketball, six on six, and basically the lawsuit that happens with the inequity of the game with girls not being able to play five on five and how demeaning that is to women. The music is great. Robert John Ford (playwright) is a genius. He has a great, great storyline. Phenomenal lyricist and musical man all around.”

The performances coincide with the Smithsonian exhibit at the Mary J. Barnett Memorial Library and the All School Reunion in Guthrie Center. General Admission tickets are $10 and are on sale at Guthrie County State Bank in Guthrie Center, Art on State, and the library. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the final six-player girls basketball season in Iowa. The Guthrie Center Tigerettes won the state title in 1937 and 1963.
