Nevada was a 3-1 Heart of Iowa Activities Conference softball winner in Jefferson on Wednesday night vs. Greene County. The Cubs scored two runs in the fifth inning and one in the sixth, while the lone run for the Rams took place in the fifth. Coach Tom Kennedy’s team fell to 4-7 in league play and 6-17 overall.

On Senior Night, senior Samantha Hardaway went all seven innings on the pitching plate, allowing just one earned run on four hits and no walks. She struck the Cubs out seven times.

Greene County had seven hits, all singles. Hardaway and Lily Muir each singled twice with one hit apiece for Carmyn Paup, Danielle Hoyle, and Laurin Lyons. Megan Carey drove in the only Greene County run.
