In association with the Smithsonian exhibit, the Mary J. Barnett Memorial Library in Guthrie Center will continue its series of events to celebrate local sports with Iowa State Day on Saturday. The event will include a tailgate party from 11am-1pm at the library, with plenty of food and featured guests.
Committee Chair Becky Carico highlights the speakers at the event. “Our special guest will be Merv Krakau, who played Cyclone football and then he proceeded to play for the Buffalo Bills. Also Len Synder, who played baseball at ISU, and he will be here with some baseball cards.”
Other guests include: former Iowa Barnstormer and Cyclone Ryan Sloth, ISU Cheerleader BJ McClellan and the ISU mascot CY from 11am-noon. Raccoon Valley Radio’s Little Big Red Radio will also be there from 10am-noon. We will be making announcements and playing music during the event.

*July 6- Karen Mason from IA Women’s Archives presentation on six-on-six
*July 7- All School Reunion
*July 14- Baseball Day, with special guests Barry Monahan and Alan Mahaffey
*July 18- Dan Gable Book Signing; 5-8pm
*July 21- University of Iowa Day, with special guest Kent Stephenson
