New Perry Farmers Market

The Perry Fire Department will be making an appearance at tomorrow night’s Perry Farmers Market to meet, greet, and raise funds.

The Perry Chamber of Commerce invited the fire department so they could show the public some of their equipment, answer any questions anyone has, and have kids interact with firefighters to show them they’re not someone to be afraid of. Additionally, the fire department will have their grill out to serve dinner to attendees. Fire Chief Chris Hinds says they’ll offer hamburgers, hot dogs, pork loins, and steak sandwiches. Hinds adds, all the proceeds from the meal will go to the Perry Firefighters Association.

“This is how we raise money for the Association. The Association uses that money in turn to purchase equipment and things that we use in our duties as firefighters. So when you come out and you’re supporting us by doing these kind of things, this money is actually going back into the community in the means of equipment and things for the fire department that we don’t get through budgeted areas.”

The farmers market will run from 4-7 p.m. tomorrow at Josh Davis Plaza in downtown Perry.
