Most of our areas in the Raccoon River Valley stayed the same or saw a decrease in unemployment last month.

According to Iowa Workforce Development, Greene and Dallas counties remained the same in their percentages of those without a job from April to May with 2.4-percent and 1.6-percent respectively. Guthrie County saw a drop in unemployment from April to May of 0.3-percent to 2.2-percent. There are 27 of Iowa’s 99-counties that reported below two-percent unemployment last month.

Iowa’s unemployment rate for May was 2.7-percent and the national unemployment rate was 3.8-percent.
