The Stuart City Council met in a special session Monday.
The Council approved allocations from the Hotel/Motel Tax fund. The Council awarded $10,000 to the Stuart Chamber of Commerce to help fund the Chamber Director’s salary, along with a laptop and printer for the Director, and $5,000 for Scoop the Loop. They also awarded $1,000 to the Stuart Police Department for services during Good Egg Days. There is still approximately $6,450 left to be allocated.
The Board also set two public hearings for July 9th at 6:30pm. The first is in regards to a development agreement between Karl Chevrolet and the City for the dealership’s expansion plans. The second is for general obligation bond refinancing not to exceed $2.4 million. They also approved a reimbursement to the Stuart Police Department for $30,000 for overtime expenses due to the absence of a fourth officer.
The meeting concluded with a discussion on signage and the City clean-up day. No formal action was taken on either item.
