A drunk driver caused thousands of dollars of property damage early Sunday morning after driving through a senior care facility in Dallas Center, though no one was injured during the incident.

The Iowa State Patrol reports, at around 12:15 a.m. a 2015 GMC Sierra pickup truck driven by 34-year-old Christopher David Hasty of Dallas Center was travelling north on 11th Street to the t-intersection with Highway 44/Sugar Grove Avenue. Hasty kept driving through the intersection and into the yard of the Amy Gene Acres housing complex. He then reportedly drove through a MidAmerican Energy power transformer, before also going through three gazebo support poles, a swing, and a tree. The Iowa State Patrol estimates Hasty caused nearly $6,000 of damage before finally coming to rest in a bean field north of the facility. The truck was also totalled in the wreck.

When law enforcement arrived on scene, Dallas County Sheriff’s Deputies performed a field sobriety test on Hasty and arrested him for OWI. The State Patrol and Sheriff’s Office were aided at the scene by the Dallas Center First Responders and Fire Department, as well as Dallas County Emergency Medical Services.
