This past weekend was a busy one at the Dallas County Fairgrounds, as the 2018 Pre-Fair Rodeo was held on Friday and Saturday. One of the biggest reveals of the two-day event was the crowning of Meghan McBride as the 2018 Dallas County Fair Queen.

McBride, who lives in West Des Moines and is a recent graduate of Waukee High School, was selected to represent Dallas County at this year’s Iowa State Fair in the Fair Queen Pageant. She takes the reins from the 2017 Fair Queen, Emily Wilkerson, who was present at Saturday’s coronation ceremony held prior to the rodeo. The runner-up went to Taylor Peterson of Clive, who is also a recent graduate of Waukee High School. The Dallas County Fair will run from July 11-15 at the County Fairgrounds in Adel. The Iowa State Fair will be held August 9-19 in Des Moines.
