Panorama-Panthers-Picture112While the school bell may have finished ringing two weeks ago, students in the Panorama Community School District are still taking advantage of academic and extracurricular opportunities.

The school’s Tests of Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics, and Science (TEAMS) group qualified for the National TEAMS Competition in Atlanta, Georgia next weekend. The competition includes three challenges: digital media, prepared presentation, and problem solving. The first two parts of the competition have already been completed, with the problem solving portion to be done at the national event.

The Panorama Booster Club was a major contributor in sponsoring the team’s travel expenses. Superintendent Shawn Holloway thanked them for their support. “Typically, I think most people think of booster clubs for athletics. But our booster club has really made an effort and done a great job to say, ‘We’re not going to just support athletics. We’re going to support athletics, fine arts, and also any co-curricular academic offerings.’”

Panora Telco and other community members and organizations also donated to help support the team. This is the first time a team from Panorama has qualified for the competition. Additionally, Panorama high school student Molly Simmons is currently attending the annual FFA Washington Leadership Conference (WLC). There she will get an opportunity to catch some sights and represent the school in various activities.
