Greene County wasn’t able to carry the offensive momentum from Wednesday night’s 10-0 victory over Saydel (Des Moines) into Thursday’s non-conference baseball game in Jefferson with Bondurant-Farrar. The Rams out hit the Blue Jays eight to four, but lost the game 4-2. Senior Wade Adcock entered the game with just 2-1/3 innings pitched this season, but the tall right hander went the distance. He struck out six batters and walked three, but two of the free passes were in the fateful sixth inning when B-F scored three times.

The Blue Jays opened the scoring in the second with a run following a one out walk. All three walks scored in the contest, which saw the Raccoon River Activities Conference program improve to 8-6. Greene County put single runs on the board in the fourth and fifth, then B-F took the lead back in the sixth. The Rams had two outs and no one on bases in the seventh before loading the sacks, but a ground out ended the game as Greene County fell to 5-5.

Seniors Jordan Patterson and Ben Wilkins each doubled and singled, and Patterson and sophomore Nick Breon had runs batted in. Breton tied the game with a fourth inning single and Patterson’s RBI doubled in the fifth put the Rams briefly ahead.

The Rams take a 3-3 Heart of Iowa Activities Conference record into tonight’s game at Gilbert after a 5-3 loss in Prairie City to PCM was turned into a 7-0 forfeit victory because the Mustangs used an ineligible pitcher during the June 8 contest. The Tigers won in Jefferson earlier this season.
