The two best softball teams in the Raccoon River Conference squared off Thursday night in Adel. Class 4A No. 4 Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers (20-3 overall; 5-1 RRC) softball team hosted No. 3 Carlisle (16-4; 7-0 RRC) in a matchup of undefeated league foes. A two-run top of the seventh inning proved to be the difference as Carlisle shut out ADM, 2-0. Carlisle started their half of the seventh with a leadoff single from sophomore first baseman Meredith Hoffman and sophomore Morgan Lose was inserted as a courtesy runner. Sophomore Delaney Schnathorst drove in the game’s first run on a one-out double two batter later, and Schnathorst was plated one hit later by designated player Allyx Lee. The Wildcats finished with two runs on eight hits, improving their overall record to 16-4 and 7-0 inside the Raccoon River Conference. ADM scatted four total hits in the setback, dropping their overall record to 20-3 and their conference mark to 5-1. ADM resumes their season today in the Roland Story tournament. The Tigers are set to face BCLUW at 1:30 p.m. and Solon at 7 p.m.
