acgcIn their first four games this season, the ACGC baseball team scored a combined eight runs. They’ve scored that same number in each of the last two games. They’ll have another opportunity to secure their first win of the season and climb up the West Central Activities Conference standings tonight in a doubleheader against the Earlham Cardinals.

Senior Caden Wardyn leads the Chargers in hits with 12, registering at least one against every opponent this season except Madrid. Through the first eight games of the season, Wardyn is the only Charger batting above 300. Junior Ben Kingery and senior Quenton Spack are next in line with seven and six hits each respectively. The Chargers are currently averaging four runs for and eleven against.

They will face an Earlham Cardinal squad that has also struggled to open the season. However, the Cardinals have faced significantly tougher competition. Earlham has tallied a loss against the 9-1 Van Meter Bulldogs and twice to the 6-1 Des Moines Christian Lions. Of Earlham’s 49 runs scored, 35 of them have come against the winless Woodward Academy Knights. Seniors Jason Hopp and Gavin Boyle, as well as sophomore Alex Caskey, lead the team with nine hits each.

You can hear Game One of the doubleheader live on KKRF2 with pre-game coverage starting at 4:55pm from Earlham.
