Add another first-time milestone to an impressive rookie campaign put together by the Panorama Panther girls soccer team this spring. Wednesday marked the inaugural postseason appearance for the Panthers, welcoming the Kuemper Catholic Knights of Carroll to Panorama Stadium for a Class 1A Region 2 quarterfinal match. Panorama, who hadn’t played a game in 16 days, outlasted Kuemper Catholic, 4-3 in overtime. Panorama co-head soccer coach Curt Thornberry tells Raccoon Valley Radio the game was highly competitive from start to finish. Freshman Audrey Cmelik accounted for three of Panorama’s four goals, including the game-winner in overtime. Panorama improves their overall record to 12-4, tallying their first postseason win in program history. The Panthers advance to tomorrow’s Class 1A Region 2 semifinal match against the No. 2 Gilbert Tigers (13-2). Gilbert advanced to the semifinals via a 10-0 victory over the Greene County Rams last night. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. tomorrow at Gilbert High School.
