As of tomorrow, the wait for many in the Perry community is over, as the Chamber of Commerce is hosting the first farmers market of the year.
The market has been relatively small, but well attended in years past, particularly towards the beginning of the season when there’s less produce to be had. However, Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti says they plan to change all that this year, by expanding what the market has to offer. “It’s more than just a farmers market, it’s more than just grab your goods and go. We’re trying to build that up so it’s more of a small community event. So (we’re) partnering with some of our local businesses to also be in attendance with their offerings. Also theming some of the markets so that there’s more activities. So later in the season we’ll have the police and fire department and schools and things like that. So every single week we’re going to have something a little bit different, but then also the regular weekly offerings.”
At tomorrow’s farmers market, there will be some family-oriented activities, including live music and balloon artists. Pasutti adds, there will be live music provided at the first market of each month for the rest of the summer. The Perry Farmers Market will operate from 4-7 p.m. every Thursday from now until September 27th in Josh Davis Plaza.
