With the primary election less than one week away, there is a contested Republican race for the Iowa House District 47 seat, which includes Greene and Boone counties.
One of the three candidates running for the Republican Party is Victoria Sinclair. She currently lives in the City of Boone, but grew up in Eastern Iowa. She is a first generation college graduate. She studied at the University of Northern Iowa where she graduated with distinguished honors, and at the top of her graduation class. As soon as she graduated from college, Sinclair notes that she was hired by US Congressman Steve King to work as part of his regional staff.
One of the most important topics that Sinclair would like to address, if elected, is improving and increasing the opportunity for skilled workforce education and training.
“That means making sure that folks, who aren’t necessarily young people, but are looking to getting a better situation for their family. They have opportunities to go back and get the technical training that they’re hoping to get. And also making sure that our young people are receiving and are being encouraged to go into some of the wonderful technical programs that we have. And I think Greene County has made some pretty good strides with this new career academy.”
Sinclair also wants to make sure that Iowa increases its ability to diversify the agriculture industry by encouraging the use of cover crops and other ways to keep it sustainable for the future. She is running for the Iowa House to ensure that Iowa continues have opportunities to work, live and raise a family for the future.
Sinclair is running against fellow Republicans Phil Thompson of Jefferson and Don Batt of Boone in the June 5th primary election. To listen to the interviews with each of the candidates, click the link below.
