Guthrie Center’s informal kickoff to summer is less than two weeks away. The 50115 Fest is Saturday, June 9th from 3-11pm downtown.
Main Street Guthrie Center Program Director Dana Buster talks about the event’s basic structure. “Usually we kind of try to have a lot of things for the kids to do during the day and then kind of shift into some adult items in the evening. This year our theme is going to be a carnival and we’ve got all kinds of little carnival games we’re going to have set up and we have some really interesting inflatables for the kids.”
The carnival from 3-6pm is $5 and will feature carnival classics and several new additions, including Hungry Hungry Hippo and Whack-a-Wall inflatable games. As the sun starts to go down, the fest will transition into a backyard themed outdoor party with lawn games and prizes from 7-11pm. Throughout the day there will also be free live music, the Curbin’ Cuisine food truck, and adult beverages for purchase.
