The end of the 2017-18 school year at West Central Valley Community Schools also marks a new beginning for the Wildcat wrestling program. Ethan Calvert, who finished his second season as West Central Valley head wrestling coach, has resigned his teaching and coaching duties at the district. In March, Calvert was approved by the Interstate 35’s Board of Education to become a high school social studies teacher for the 2018-19 school year. The West Central Valley Community School’s Board of Directors approved Calvert’s resignation at their March meeting. The following month, the Board approved Ben Strandberg of Sibley-Ocheyedan Community Schools as the new head wrestling coach for the Wildcats. Strandberg helped lead four wrestlers to the state tournament back in March.
