The Raccoon River Valley area saw large drops in unemployment in April.
According to Iowa Workforce Development, Dallas County has the second lowest unemployment rate in the state at 1.6-percent. Story County has the lowest at 1.5-percent unemployment. Greene County continues to decrease their percentage of those without a job to 2.4-percent in April, which is a 0.5-percent drop. Guthrie County had the largest decline from March to April with their unemployment rate at 2.5-percent in April, down from 3.6-percent in March.
Iowa’s unemployment also continues to drop. In April, Iowa’s unemployment was 2.5-percent. The national unemployment rate in April was 3.9-percent.
