There are several Memorial Day services coming up in Greene County.
In Cooper there will be a program at the Franklin Township Cemetery at 11am on Monday. Pastor Larry Monthei will give the benediction and the Jamaica American Legion Post 687 will also perform.
St. Patrick’s Historical Church in Cedar Township will hold a service at 8am. The program includes the oratory address on the “Star Spangled Banner,” reverence to the departed and fallen veterans buried at the church’s cemetery, reflections of the holiday and a couple of musical selections. It will conclude with a military ceremony by the Churdan American Legion. There will also be a military service and the Town and Country Band will perform at 10am at the Highland Township Cemetery in Churdan.
Taking place tomorrow is a program at the Pleasant Hill Church. Festivities kick off at 9:30am and end at 1pm. Activities include: guest speaker David Yepsen, an oration by Wallace Teagarden, a 21-gun salute, the playing of Taps and a potluck-style lunch.
