Plans continue to come together for when the Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI) makes its overnight stop in Jefferson.
Jefferson RAGBRAI Executive Co-Chair Toni Wetrich says there are 18,143 people that have registered for the annual event, which include 1,826 groups or teams, and Wetrich adds that it’s anticipated to be a record-setting year for RAGBRAI. She talks about what the experience has been like to work with large groups of people.
“A lot of these groups have already been coming to Jefferson. We scout out the town, try to find out where they’re going to be at. And they all have really great things to say about Jefferson, about how clean it is, how great it looks (and) they can see the changes that have happened in Jefferson since 2008. They’re really excited. A lot of them have said that we’re gearing up to be the favorite town on RAGBRAI. And so we’re really excited about that to show them how great Jefferson is right now and all the great things we have going on.”
Wetrich says they’ve scheduled all of the musical acts that will perform when RAGBRAI stops in Jefferson on July 23rd. Joining the headliner Hairball is: Bad Authority, Wild Ambition, Chad Elliot and the Redemptions, The Pale Moon and Adam Pope.
“So we have a diverse type of music from kind of folksy to Hairball is all rock. But we’re excited about the diversity to be able to offer a fun and entertaining night of all kinds (of musical tastes).”
