The summer sports season’s off to a positive start for the West Central Valley Wildcats due to a multitude of reasons. One of them has been the varsity start of eighth-grader Brice Taylor on the mound. Entering today’s contest against Des Moines Christian, Taylor leads West Central Valley with five complete innings pitched, earning the 6-3 victory over Glidden-Ralston Monday. Throwing 94 pitches, Taylor allowed one run and issued six walks, striking out nine batters. The Wildcats continue West Central Activities Conference play tonight in Urbandale against the Lions. First pitch of the varsity game is slated for 7 p.m.
