A graduating senior from Winterset High School was recently awarded one of two $250 Business and Broadcasting Scholarships from Raccoon Valley Radio.

Danny Barker, who has enrolled at the University of Iowa, plans on majoring in Journalism and Mass Communications with an emphasis on cinematic arts. She held a 3.9 Grade Point Average, and was involved in several extra curricular activities, including: student council, speech, softball, track, and the conservation club.

Last summer Barker completed a summer internship with the Iowa State Fair in their public relations and media department. Her main responsibility was working the media front desk and writing press releases. Her listed skills include: video editing, sound editing, directing, and acting.

Barker will receive the award at the high school awards ceremony on Wednesday.
