A Jefferson man was arrested following a break-in of the City’s impound lot.
Police Captain Heath Enns says an officer arrested 19-year-old Jesus Moises Zuniga around 3:15pm Thursday on a couple of warrants. Zuniga is charged with a Class D Felony for conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, an aggravated misdemeanor for obstructing prosecution and a simple misdemeanor for trespassing.
Enns tells Raccoon Valley Radio Zuniga’s vehicle had been towed to their impound lot following a previous accident, and drugs had been removed from the vehicle. That incident led to the arrest of Jacob Lopez for allegedly possessing drugs. Early Thursday morning, Enns says they discovered the vehicle had been tampered with inside the impound lot. He points out that since Zuniga has a GPS locator on his person, he contacted the parole officer and found out that Zuniga had been inside the impound lot and removed a ziplock bag of marijuana.
Through gathering cell phone and Facebook messages by a search warrant, Enns says he found evidence that Zuniga was trying to line up purchasers of the marijuana he took out of the vehicle. After Zuniga was arrested, he was booked into the Greene County Jail where he remains held under a $5,000 bond. Enns adds that he anticipates a probation revocation charge to be issued soon, since Zuniga was recently sentenced to probation from unrelated incidents.
