The Perry School Board convened Monday evening in regular session.

The meeting started with Superintendent Clark Wicks recognizing National School Board Month, and thanking the Board members for their service to the District. During reports, High School Principal Dan Marburger gave a rundown of recent end-of-year activities, as well as some coming up. Wicks then discussed the Dewey Field renovation project and fundraising efforts, both of which are proceeding well.

In general business, Middle School At-Risk Teacher Kathy Pantzar spoke about the “Capturing Kids Hearts” program for connecting and motivating students, and encouraged the Board to institute it at the middle and high schools. The program will cost a total of $45,000 in its first year, paid through the Teacher Quality Fund, and the Board agreed to support it. Other action items approved included: a $0.10 increase in school lunch prices for all schools; a trip to the National SkillsUSA leadership and skills conference this June in Louisville, Kentucky; a lease agreement for $1,000 per month, plus utilities, for the “Success Room”; and pay increases for substitute teachers and support staff.
