In 26 hours, the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers boys soccer team beat a pair of conference adversaries and took control of the Raccoon River Conference standings. Less than 24 hours after shutting out the Winterset Huskies at home, the ADM Tigers paid a visit to Dewey Field for a rivalry showdown against the Perry Bluejays. A defensive standstill ensued for most of the game as the contest was scoreless entering the final 90 seconds of the second overtime. A Perry infraction in the Bluejay’s defensive box set up a penalty kick for ADM senior Eli Schwarzkopf; Schwarzkopf deposited the game-winning goal into the back of the net to secure the Tigers’ first victory over Perry in boys soccer since 2014.

The Raccoon Valley Radio Network spoke with ADM senior soccer players Schwarzkopf, Davis Barton, and Ethan Meyer after yesterday’s victory. Meyer said erasing their losing streak over Perry felt great. “I think (Schwarzkopf, Barton, and I) especially think that last year we should of had that win too,” Meyer said, “We put everything into that game and we came up short. It was great to come out senior year, in a crucial game, to come out and put it to them.”

ADM lost to Winterset, 2-0, and Perry 2-1 during last spring 13-5 campaign. The pair of early week victories helped ADM secure sole possession of first place in the Raccoon River Conference boys soccer standings, improving the Tigers overall record to 10-3. ADM hits the road tomorrow for their next league match against the Bondurant-Farrar Bluejays. The varsity squads kick off around 7 p.m. at Bondurant-Farrar High School.
