A homeless man charged with attempting to steal a Mediacom van near Dexter has been sentenced to probation.
According to court documents, 24-year-old Antonio Montano Grajales reached a plea agreement with the Dallas County Attorney’s Office. He was charged with first degree theft of a motor vehicle valued over $10,000, a class C felony that carries a maximum two-year prison sentence. However, per the plea agreement, he had his sentence suspended and will instead be placed on probation for two years.
Grajales was arrested on January 29th, after he stole a Mediacom van parked at Casey’s General Store in Dexter. The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office quickly located the van and executed a traffic stop, and Grajales was then taken into custody without incident.
