West Central Valley Wildcat

Multiple school records were rewritten Tuesday for the West Central Valley boys golf team in Waukee. The Wildcats competed in their fourth nine-hole event of the spring in a makeup West Central Activities Conference meet with Earlham and Ogden. The Wildcats posted the best collective score in school history, winning the event with 166 strokes. The Cardinals claimed second place with 168 strokes and Ogden placed third with 176.

West Central Valley’s four scoring golfers all carded scores below 50 strokes. Senior Garrett Caltrider claimed to meet medalist honors with a program-best nine hole round score of 35 strokes, shooting one over par for the event. Garrett’s younger brother, Grant Caltrider, carded West Central Valley’s second-best performance at 39 shots, placing third individually. Junior Cole Arnburg completed the event in 44 shots and freshman Evan Taylor rounded out the Wildcats’ scoring with 48 strokes.

Forecasted wet weather this weekend has canceled the makeup date for the CAM Invitational golf tournament Saturday. The Wildcats resume their season Monday in a West Central Activities Conference meet against the AC/GC Chargers and the Madrid Tigers at the Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone.
