Both ACGC track and field teams were scheduled to hop over to Panora for an invitational tonight. However, the prolonged cold spell claimed another scheduled meet, forcing both teams to wait a week between competitions. Boys head coach Tyler Mosbach complimented his team on having a positive attitude despite the frigid temperatures. Girls head coach Colin Shawgo saw a similar reaction from his squad.
Shawgo credits that positivity to the senior leadership. “Luckily, we have some really good leadership on our team. So they do a really good job of keeping all of our girls in line and focused on the end goal and making sure everybody shows up every night ready to work hard and get better. So it really doesn’t affect us a whole lot and hopefully, even as more meets drop because of weather, our senior leaders are going to keep our team in the right direction.”
Seniors on the Charger girls track and field team include: Mady Smith, Emma Swanson, Sara Schmeling, Hailey Bates, and Sabrina Ure. Both the boys and the girls will make their home debuts at the Coon Rapids-Bayard Tom Tipton Invitational, at Gonzales-Parrish Track in Guthrie Center.
