The Perry Fine Arts Group will be hosting their next concert soon, and it will feature a popular local ensemble.

Fine Arts Committee member Cathy Clark explains, “I was in several different places, and I heard this request for the Greater Des Moines Community Band from two different people on the same day. So I decided that that must be somebody I’m really supposed to get ahold of!”

The ensemble consists of over 60 volunteer musicians, some as young as 16-years-old, and as old as 80. Clark says there are even a few members of the band who are from Perry, and they’ve emphasized how strong the camaraderie is in the ensemble, which they feel leads to a better sound. There is no cost to attend any Perry Fine Arts concert, but free-will donations are accepted, with all proceeds going toward future shows.

The Greater Des Moines Community Band will take the stage on Sunday, April 15th at 2 p.m. in the Perry High School’s Performing Arts Center.
