The Perry Parks and Recreation Department is getting ready for summer, and has some pool-related dates coming up.
Aquatics Director Kami Kirchner says their yearly lifeguard training course will be held the first weekend in May, and is open to a wide range of applicants. “So as long as they are 15-years-old and know how to swim, they can sign up to take the class, and there’s kind of a precourse you take. If you’re not able to pass the precourse, you get your money back. If you pass the precourse, you get to take the test and move on. And if you’re interested in working for me at the Rec (Center) as a lifeguard, we can discuss that when the time comes!”
Anyone interested in taking part in the lifeguard course can sign up at the McCreary Community Building. Kirchner says she can take as many as 10 participants. Additionally, sign-ups are now open to take part in swim lessons. Sessions will start at the beginning of June. Finally, anyone wanting to join the Perry Summer Swim Team can sign up now as well.
