The Perry City Council convened Monday evening in regular session.
City Administrator Sven Peterson got the meeting started with several project updates, including: construction beginning on the Willis Avenue bridge; work starting next Monday on the McCreary Center roof; the soccer complex, which has gotten off to a good start with new contractors No Lawn Left Behind; and Park Street, where the county has begun work on their section. In old business, the Council approved the final pay request for the sally port project, though there are a few things that still need to be handled. They also approved bid letting for the Wiese Park trail improvement project, and setting a public hearing date of April 16th to discuss the bids and specifications.
In new business, a representative from Bernie Lowe and Associates gave a presentation on the health, dental, vision, life, and long term disability insurance for City employees. Health insurance rates increased by 3.19% from last year, but all other coverages stayed the same or decreased. Next, the Council approved setting May 5th as the Community Drop-Off Day, which is replacing the citywide Spring Clean-Up from past years. Other resolutions approved included: a pay request for the sanitary sewer cleaning project; a mutual release and settlement agreement for the soccer complex; the fiscal year 2017 annual audit report; and an agreement for codification services with Iowa Codification.
