One of the best venues to play golf in central Iowa is located near the state’s largest private lake in Guthrie County. The 18-hole par-72 Lake Panorama National Golf Course has hosted several Iowa Section PGA and Iowa Golf Association tournaments over the years and is the home course of the Panorama Panthers boys golf program. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network visited the Lake Panorama National Golf Course last week for an interview with members of this year’s Panther boys golf team. Sophomore Kolby Shackelford spoke about the benefits of having Lake Panorama National Golf Course as their home site. “It’s great having Lake Panorama (National Golf Course) as our home course,” Shackelford said, “I think we get a big advantage (playing here) because we have a lot of meets out here.”

Lake Panorama National Golf Course will also be one of the Class 2A district golf tournament sites this May. The course’s first high school meet of the season was supposed to be yesterday afternoon, but the Panther’s West Central Activities Conference triangular against Madrid and Ogden was postponed due to weather. The next varsity home meet for Panorama is scheduled for April 20th in a conference triangular event versus Earlham and Van Meter.
