Since late fall, construction crews have been working diligently on the sanitary sewer improvement project on 16th Street in Perry.

However, you may have noticed less activity on the project in recent weeks. Perry City Administrator Sven Peterson explains why crews have stepped away from the project. “So they’re going to be moving out of the site for a few months here, just to let the spring rains happen so that they’re not making a huge, muddy mess. Also the driveways that they’re going to be going through, we want to be able to kind of tear out those driveways, put in the pipe, and then pour back the concrete all in one day. It’s (Dallas) County Conservation, so it’s very important that we keep that open to the public and allow them to go about their business as usual.”

Peterson says there’s still about 300 feet of pipe left to lay. He’s unsure of the exact timetable, but believes the construction will resume in late spring and the project will be completed by the end of the summer.
