Greene County sends its boys’ track & field squad to Winterset for the Husky Relays today. It’s a boys’ only meet with 12 teams in the field and action begins at 4:30 p.m.
Coach Chad Morton’s team opened the outdoor season on Tuesday in Jefferson at the Rams’ Early Bird Meet and placed second behind North Polk (Alleman) among six teams. Coach Morton told Raccoon Valley Radio he was pleased with the Rams on Tuesday. “For our first outdoor meet, the weather couldn’t have been really much better. Our relays were strong. We got some good times from our kids and I thought we competed hard.”
The coach said the approach would be a bit different at Winterset. “I don’t think I’m going to stretch us quite as thin when it comes to running kids in so many events. We’ll try to do more quality instead of quantity at Winterset and see if we can come away with some good performances as well.”
We’ll have a recap of the Rams in Winterset on the Saturday Sports Page at 7:30 a.m. on KDLS and 8:30 a.m. on KG98 and K107.
