A local economic development organization held their signature event for entrepreneurs Tuesday evening. Midwest Partnership hosted its fourth annual EntreBASH at the Audubon County Fairgrounds in Audubon. About a dozen economic development organizations and businesses had booths with information and a few goodies for participants. There were also tables for casual discussion on various business topics as well as a more formal panel.
The SCORE Association, a business consulting organization, was one of the organizations on hand to assist budding entrepreneurs. SCORE Mentor Thomas Harbison explains how these events can help people start and grow their businesses. “What you find is that people have an idea and they want to make that idea work, but they don’t have a good idea of how to set up a business and how to run that business. That’s extremely important if you want to be successful.”
Harbison says events like these can be the connection between supporting organizations and individuals who want to make their ideas work. One such individual is Julie Kitt. Kitt, the owner of a small home care business, tells Raccoon Valley Radio she began Home Choices LLC with littler business knowledge or experience. She came to the event hoping to increase her business acumen and obtain resources to help her develop.
Midwest Partnership serves a four county region, including: Adair, Guthrie, Greene, and Audubon.
