The Greene County Treasurer’s office is reminding all county property owners that the second half of property taxes are due soon.
County Treasurer Donna Lawson says all property tax payments are typically due at the end of March. However, since March 31st falls on a Saturday this year, payments are due by Monday, April 2nd. Payments must be made to the County Treasurer’s office and some are taken care of automatically by the property owners escrow account on their mortgage.
Lawson points out for those who are low or fixed income can apply for a Property Tax Credit Claim. It is for those individuals that are 65 and older or who have an income of less than $22,855. The program helps to reduce the amount owed on property tax payments.
Anyone with questions, or who want to make a payment, can stop by the Treasurer’s office in the Greene County Courthouse or call them at 386-5675.
