Those interested in voting early, ahead of the April 3rd bond referendum for the Greene County School District, may do so tomorrow.
A satellite voting station will be set up at the middle school from 1 to 9pm, during the elementary school concerts. Our Kids, Our Future Greene County Committee Co-Chair Peg Raney explains how they were able to organize a satellite voting station.
“Well this has been developed by petition and through the (Greene County) Auditor’s office, they have come to the location and looked it over so that everything will be secure. Our Kids, Our Future Greene County committee members, or any materials or anything will not be in that location during that time. This would be just another absentee area.”
The total cost of the project is $35.48 million. Of that total, the school district’s bond is for $21.48 million. The tax rate would increase for property taxes by $2.70 per $1,000 taxable valuation. A tax calculator is available on Our Kids, Our Future Greene County’s website. You can access the calculator by clicking the link below.
According to the Greene County Auditor’s office, as of Monday afternoon, there were 583 absentee ballots returned and another 26 ballots that are still out. The special election day is Tuesday, April 3rd. Polls will be open from 7am to 8pm.
