The City of Perry recently announced they have new regulations regarding the public decorating headstones in Violet Hill Cemetery.
Between April 1st and November 15th, all decorations at the cemetery must either be contained within a vase, placed directly on the stone, or hanging from an ornamental lawn hook. Placing decorations anywhere else around a grave is now prohibited, with a few exceptions. Decorations can be placed anywhere ten days before and seven days after Memorial Day. Additionally, the regulations are lifted five days before and after both Mothers and Fathers Day every year.
Anyone with questions about the new rules can contact Perry City Hall at 515-465-2481, or Violet Hill Cemetery at 515-465-2755.
