ADM Tigers

A return trip to the state tournament will take the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers boys golf team down a familiar postseason trail later this year. The Iowa High School Athletic Association handed out postseason assignments for all classes of golfers earlier this month, and the organization considers ADM a Class 3A golf team. The IAHSAA assigned the Tigers to the Denison-Schleswig sectional tournament at Majestic Hills Golf Course in Denison on May 11. Should ADM be one of the two lowest scoring teams or have a golfer place in the top three individually, they’ll qualify for the district tournament on May 18 at the Atlantic Golf and Country Club. ADM head golf coach Kelly Roder tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the Tiger boys golf team has an identical postseason run as they did a season ago when they qualified for the Class 3A state golf tournament as a team.

Micah Moyer is a returning senior on ADM’s boy’s golf team and says while the road back to state is familiar, the courses aren’t short of challenges especially in Denison. “There are some really hilly parts of the course where it’s not only hard to play off of but walking it drains your energy,” Moyer said, “The hills are definitely a killer at Denison.”

The weather has kept the ADM boys and girls golf teams inside their Minburn facility for a majority of preseason practice including Monday night. The Tiger boys golf team opens their season next Thursday, April 5, in a nonconference quadrangular at Indian Creek Golf Course in Nevada.
