A new spring sports option is available to Panorama high school students this year. Panorama Community Schools added boys and girls soccer programs to their athletic choices this calendar year, and several students are signed up for the inaugural season. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network sat down with senior members Blaine Barber, Jacob Merschman, Dylan Perez, and Sam Webster Friday evening to talk about the new program and several other preseason topics. Webster said many of the players on the team have previous playing experience. “Panorama has always had a soccer club, and we’ve been playing since we were eight years old,” Webster said, “It’s nice that the high school now has a soccer team so we can go out and play while we’re in high school.”
Webster adds the club soccer team was more casual than intense and says the team is learning a lot about the game from their high school coaches. Barber talks about the team’s goals for the Panthers first season on the pitch. “We at least want to go .500 on the season,” Barber said, “We want to have a winning season, and we want to start off strong. We don’t want to come out and have a losing season and create a bad legacy for the team obviously.”
