The Churdan Library is looking to renovate and expand their facility.
Library Director Shari Minnihan says they are going to sell some of the items out of the library to renovate the existing facility. They are also going to have asbestos removed from the front section of the building. The asbestos is scheduled to be removed on April 4th, which means the library will be closed April 2nd through the 7th. The library recently received a $16,801 grant from the Greene County Community Foundation to help with updates to the library.
All items will be moved to a temporary location at 604 Hill Street. However, Minnihan says they are going to have a moving sale to help clear out some of their inventory. There will be fiction books, along with some Christian fiction, audio books, DVDs, music CDs and some children’s books available for purchase. The sale will take place next week, from Monday, March 26th through Saturday, March 31st. Times are: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 11:30am to 5:30pm, Wednesday from 9:30am to 6pm and Saturday from 9 to 11am.
Minnihan points out she would like some volunteers to help move items to their temporary location. Contact the library for more information.
There will also be a groundbreaking ceremony held on April 9th for the 1,000-square-foot expansion to the library.
