Scholarships-300x197A reminder to graduating high school seniors in Greene, Dallas, Guthrie, Adair and Madison counties that Raccoon Valley Radio is still accepting scholarship applications.

There are two $250 scholarships available to graduating seniors who plan to pursue a college degree in business or broadcasting. RVR General Manager John McGee describes why the company started giving scholarships to high school seniors.

“It’s really kind of a program that we started many, many years ago. Mel and Holly Suhr, the owners of the station, believe in giving back and this is one of the ways they can give back, and also keep growing the profession.”

The required information for the application includes: the student’s grade point average from their junior and senior years, any extracurricular activities, school positions and awards during their high school careers, as well as any work-related experience and interests and skills. Copies of the application are available at the KGRA station in Jefferson, KKRF station in Stuart and KDLS station in Perry. All applications must be submitted by April 20th.
